A torque limiter is a device designed to protect your MultiGear™ against overloads generated by the driven machinery. It is available for every unit listed in this catalogue.

During normal operation, the reducer transmits full load torque to the output shaft. However, under certain conditions, if the torque generated by the driven machinery exceeds the reducer's rated value, the torque limiter takes over. It triggers an internal slip within the reducer. This causes the output shaft to stop rotating, even while the driving machinery continues to run.

When the input torque returns to an acceptable level, internal slip stops and full load torque is re-transmitted through the output shaft.

Torque limiters are externally adjustable and are not affected by direction of rotation or mounting position.
